Mountain Hook

Mountain Hook was a short-term exercise in developing and publishing a game on Steam to get a preparatory glimpse of the process before embarking on something larger. I'm a huge fan of grappling hook mechanics and getting them to 'feel' just right so that was the main pillar of this simple, small, time-filler game.

The grappling hook is custom-coded using various shapecasts to properly wrap around hard surfaces whilst maintaining a consistent tension. It avoids the unpredictable or 'bouncy' nature of physics engine constraints and I was really pleased with the end result.
